Introduction to Stand Up Paddleboarding

Overview
Learn stand up paddleboarding (SUP) in a safe and controlled environment with experienced and certified paddle instructors. Participants will use top quality, new equipment and will start gliding across the water in no time! Participants will need to wear a bathing suit and bring a towel. Lessons are instructed by My Aloha Paddle and Surf, Inc.

Lessons include:  
  • Introduction to your board and paddle
  • Features of your board and paddle
  • Techniques for proper paddling and turning
  • Water safety instruction
  • On-land instruction
  • On-water instruction

Participant requirements: 

  • Participants must be able to swim.
  • Participants must weigh between 60-275 lbs., be in reasonably good health and able to stand up from a kneeling position with only the ground as assistance.
  • Participants must sign a liability waiver when they arrive at My Aloha Paddle and Surf, Inc.
  • Must be a minimum of 12 years of age to be without a parent. Participants 8-11 years of age must be accompanied by parent/guardian.

Location: My Aloha Paddle and Surf's waterfront location, 17505 W. Catawba Avenue, in the Waterstreet Seaport across from Robbins Park.
Cost: Per session, the Resident Fee is $25 and Non-Resident Fee is $30. Register in person at Cornelius Town Hall or online.
