- Did you know that Hoyt Wilhelm, a MLB Baseball Hall of Famer, attended Cornelius High School? He pitched for 9 major league teams for over 21 seasons and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1985. Wilhelm is best known for his knuckleball which he perfected in a Cornelius, NC pasture. Visit the James Hoyt Wilhelm Park right here in Cornelius!
