On Friday, 3/29/2019, Officers with our Crime Reduction Unit conducted a traffic stop for a seatbelt violation on Delanio Morris who is also known to have a revoked driver’s license. A firearm was found in plain-view of the vehicle. Mr. Morris is a convicted felon, therefore not allowed to possess a firearm. The driver, Mr. Morris, ran on foot but was apprehended by our officers after a brief foot chase. Officers seized the firearm as well as two grams of cocaine and one gram of marijuana as evidence. The ATF is reviewing the case to determine if they will prosecute through the Federal System. Mr. Morris was arrested and charged with Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of crack cocaine, possession of marijuana and Resist, Obstruct & Delay. He was transported to Mecklenburg County Intake and placed under a $28,000 bond.
