[ARCHIVED] Officer Squashic Honored at Lake Norman Chamber Public Safety Luncheon

On Thursday, October 18, the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce held the 8th Annual North Meckleburg Public Safety Luncheon at the Peninsula Club "Honoring Those Whose Serve and Protect". Members of the Cornelius, Davidson, Huntersville and Davidson College Police Departments were honored as well as members of the North Meck Rescue and the local fire departments.

Officer J. Squashic was the recipient for the Cornelius Police Department for his Life Saving efforts earlier this year. On February 5, Officer Squashic responded to a report of a man having a heart attack. He arrived at the residence within minutes and once inside, found the patient was unresponsive and not breathing. He began CPR, then used an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) to shock the patient. He continued CPR until firefighters and Medic arrived. “Officer Squashic performed well under immense pressure and his actions ultimately saved the patient’s life,” the citation read.

Congratulations to Officer Squashic and the other 2013 recipients!
