[ARCHIVED] CPD Arrest Suspect from Rite Aid Armed Robbery

Joshua Lerner

At 3:16 PM on Tuesday, July 15th, 2014 the Rite Aid Pharmacy, located at 19400 West Catawba Avenue, reported an armed robbery. The suspect was described as a white male with a t-shirt pulled over his head.

Responding officers began reviewing surveillance video located at Rite Aid which gave an indication of the type and color of vehicle used by the suspect. Town surveillance cameras located that vehicle in the area prior to and after the robbery and officers were able to obtain a registration number for the suspect's vehicle. After determining the owner of the vehicle, officers began surveillance on their residence and a short time later made contact with the owner of the vehicle at the 20100 block of Henderson Rd. Following an interview with the vehicle owner, officers were able to determine the suspect had used the vehicle. Clothing and other items believed to be used in the robbery were located in both the vehicle and in the residence where the suspect was staying.

The suspect, Joshua David Lerner (W/M DOB 02-22-88), was arrested and charged with one count of robbery with a dangerous weapon. He is currently at the Mecklenburg County Jail on a $100,000 secured bond.
