[ARCHIVED] CPD remembers Robert Cashion

The Cornelius Police Department would like to express our sincere condolences to the Cashion family on the passing of Mr. Robert Cashion.

Mr. Cashion was a very special supporter to law enforcement in North Mecklenburg in general, but was always a major contributor to the interest of public safety during very difficult times. During Hurricane Hugo when the area was devastated and deliveries of fuel were non-existent for many weeks, Mr. Cashion made sure all emergency services had fuel, water, and food. This philosophy continues. When the crisis in the gulf created the fuel shortage there were a critical few days when there was no fuel to be had – except for that one pump set aside specifically to keep our police cars rolling. We never missed a call nor did we have to reduce our level of service.

The Cornelius Police Department feels it is a privilege to have known Mr. Cashion and we are fortunate to continue to have the Cashion family in our lives. While his passing is a huge loss for the community, we are all better individuals because of the many examples he set for us.
