April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and the Cornelius Police Department has partnered with the Mecklenburg Child Abuse Prevention Team and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg District Attorney's Office to plant a pinwheel garden. Pinwheels have become a symbol of child abuse awareness nationwide, so when you see one, take a minute to think about how YOU can protect a child's life. ?

Since 2010, the Cornelius Police Department has investigated 30 cases of Misdemeanor and Felony Child Abuse cases. If you suspect a child is being abused, please contact your local law enforcement agency.
