On Friday, August 25, 2017, Officers from the Cornelius Police Department delivered school supplies to area schools that were collected from the annual Pack the Patrol Car event.
In the month of August, the Cornelius Police Department hosted a school supply drive to collect items for students at Cornelius Elementary, J.V. Washam Elementary, Bailey Middle School, and W.A. Hough High School. Cornelius Police collected over 2,150 school supplies, including 587 notebooks, 328 binders and folders, 181 boxes of crayons, 152 packs of paper, 190 packs of pencils, 120 packs of colored pencils and markers, 114 packs of glue, 82 packs of pens,47 pairs of scissors and 82 packs of erasers. All of the items were packed into boxes and delivered to the schools.
The Cornelius Police Department would like to thank everyone who donated school supplies at National Night Out 2017 and a special thank you to the Bailey's Glen an Active Adult Lifestyle Resort Community for their generosity in collecting supplies. Since 2012, the Cornelius Police Department has collected and distributed over 7,600 school supplies for students. We appreciate your continued support of this community event.
