The Cornelius Police Department would like to announce the promotion of Kevin Black as the Major effective October 1, 2012. This promotion comes after the retirement of Major David King.

Black has been an Officer with the Cornelius Police Department since December 1, 1993. He was promoted to shift Sergeant in November 1996, was transferred to Investigations Division as Investigative Sergeant in April of 2003 then promoted to Investigative Lieutenant in November 2004.

In April 2008, Black was promoted to Captain and served as commander of Field Operations for two years and served as commander of Support Services and Accrediation for two years.
